Meet the Woman Bringing Tony Montana and Elvira Hancock Back to Life

Transformation has become something of a trademark for Despina Mirou.

Throughout her international career, the actress has never shied away from demanding performances, but nothing compares to the challenge she faced while filming Scarface Resurrection.

The upcoming feature places Mirou in the unique position of portraying herself alongside two of the most iconic characters in Hollywood history—Tony Montana and Elvira Hancock.

It’s an ambitious undertaking that required months of preparation, dramatic physical changes, and complete artistic commitment.

Working alongside director Eric Spade Rivas, Mirou immersed herself in every aspect of the production. She personally handled much of her makeup, carefully recreated the physical characteristics of both legendary characters, and collaborated creatively throughout filming as scenes evolved on set.

“It took me seven minutes to become Michelle and forty minutes to become Tony,” she says.

Filmed across New York City’s most recognizable locations, Scarface Resurrection combines familiar faces with fresh perspectives. The cast includes Steven Bauer, Roberta Pacino, Michael Musto, and the late Ángel Salazar, whose appearance serves as a heartfelt connection to the original Scarface legacy.

Away from the cameras, Mirou’s commitment continued.

After filming, she frequently appeared at comedy clubs across Manhattan, performing in character before live audiences who were captivated by the astonishing transformations. One evening she commanded the stage as Tony Montana. The next she embodied Elvira Hancock with effortless sophistication.

Her performances became so convincing that actor Seth Rogen reportedly stopped to photograph her while she was walking through New York dressed as Tony Montana.

Photographer Rob Klein captured many of Mirou’s remarkable transformations during production, documenting the extraordinary range required to move between such dramatically different characters.

At its heart, Scarface Resurrection is a celebration of cinematic legacy, but it also introduces audiences to an actress unafraid to challenge herself artistically.

For Despina Mirou, this isn’t simply another role.

It’s a defining moment in a career built on fearless creativity, relentless preparation, and the belief that every performance should leave audiences seeing something they’ve never seen before.
