The enigmatic spirit and fresh sounds of Cassandra Jewel will have you longing for more.  We caught up with the talented, young artist to learn more about her upcoming new single and latest plans.

Thank you for sharing some time with our readers today, what have you been up to in 2019?

2019 has been the most important year of my life so far. It has been a year of healing, release and growth. It has been the year where I have fully embraced my artist within. I was led to incredible people this year who have become a part of my music team. These people have helped me create recent singles and my EP which I am patiently and eagerly waiting to release. Throughout the whole year, I have been focused working on music and my EP in New York (where I had been living for about five years). A big thing that’s happened is I have just moved to California in September! It is so crazy. Along with music, I have been putting in some crucial self-love work. Gosh I have so much I want to say but i’d be writing a book if i did. I have been seeking, going within myself, facing all my sides, and allowing myself to express freely.  It really is incredibly beautiful when you do so. I know it may not be easy to do but man life can only shift for the better if that action is taken and you allow the healing to take place.  With that, two of the main things I have been practicing have been listening to my inner guide, intuition and letting go. I finally got to a point of understanding that if I have an attachment to an idea, outcome, person or situation and worry about the “how??” ..it will only cause resistance for what I may be desiring to have and create in my life. Letting go is not giving up, it is only an act of love for yourself because it will open you up to so much more than what you may not even see in the present moment. All letting go does is bring the clarity you may need as well as the right and most divine opportunities and people to you. You open yourself up to receive more blessings. To touch on listening-we are always being guided and supported and I absolutely know that when we seek, we find. The answers will be shown to us. And a lot of the time the answers are already within us. It’s getting to the point where we can trust and believe in ourselves enough to listen. Listening to that guidance is an absolute key to success. I have been both listening and letting go throughout the creative process, and every decision I have made. I am so happy I did because where I am at right now is far beyond what I saw a year ago.

Any LIVE show experiences or road stories you would like to share?

Hell yea. I began performing my original music at one of my friends Yuj’s gatherings (who is an amazing artist and human being). It was a super loving vibe in a warehouse like building in Brooklyn 🙂  When I hit the stage first was at legendary SOB’S in Manhattan. Sooo many legends have performed on that exact stage when they were just starting out or even still to this day. Literally my favorite artists and a few of my biggest inspirations have played on that exact stage. So knowing that and feeling that energy alone was amazing. New York has the most special place in my heart. That is where it all began. I recently have done some shows in Orlando Florida (where my family is) getting the music out over there as well.

With such a busy studio schedule, how do you find the time to have fun, cut lose and enjoy life?

Honestly the studio time is a lot of my fun time. It’s like a second home. My safe space. I love it so much. I also need me some nature. Give me some hiking, the beach, or even my backyard. That stuff lights me up. I make it a priority to do the things I need to do in order to stay sane and at peace. And if there are nights I am craving to go out dancing or cut loose, I will absolutely make that time. Somehow I figure it out. It is true, balance is soo important. I am honestly working on balance in my life daily.

Where are you currently located and what are your favorite local spots to play?

I am located in Burbank California. I just moved here and will soon have favorite spots to play at!!

When we follow our dreams in life, there are sacrifices.  What do you find to be the greatest sacrifices and the greatest gifts of your career?

The greatest sacrifices have been being away from my parents. My parents and I are super close. I miss them dearly. They are my people. And this pursuit can be very very lonely. It has definitely taught me so much about who I am and has helped me become even more independent. The greatest gifts have been the support from my family and friends. I am so thankful for them. They have kept me going. Another amazing gift of my career is having the freedom to express and create anything that I desire, need or feel called to. That is incredibly liberating. That is so beautiful. And that is a big reason I am doing this.

Please share with our readers more about your upcoming single…

My upcoming single is called Hymn. It is produced by Jedstarrr. He is a legend. Keep an eye and ear out. Hymn is in its own lane. It is about the negative affects of social media and how we have chosen to look at and compare our lives/selves to what may seem “larger than life” rather than looking on the inside. The song was inspired by a little girl who sat next to me on a plane ride. This little girl looked right at me. She saw right through me and smiled such a loving smile. She saw me for me. She had all the answers and I could feel her complete innocence and purity. She hadn’t been touched by social media yet. My life was different after that moment. This girl changed my life and brought me back to the awareness that I needed. I send her all my love. Thank you.
