Interview with Peter Reckell
Thank you for your time, Peter! Tell us how fun was it recording a holiday record?! “Under the Mistletoe” is just wonderful!
I’ve always been a Christmas junkie. We have a huge holiday music collection and enough ornaments to decorate 10 trees. I had such a great time recording “Under the Mistletoe” with this incredible group of musicians and Blue Aeris, I’m inspired to get back in the studio and sing more songs for next Christmas.
Is there anything about the song that gives you nostalgia?
My wife, Kelly, said she was inspired to write the song from all the cards I’ve written to her over the years. Not only was it a walk down memory lane of our life together, but the line “Nat King Cole on the radio” brought me back to early childhood memories of Christmas with my parents and siblings. My mom was a wonderful Christmas elf.
How would you describe your career trajectory in one word? Why?
Playground. I’ve been fortunate enough to have a career that allows me to play “make-believe” just like when I was a kid. I think that’s what allowed me to enjoy my role as Bo Brady for 30 years because I could approach work as play on a daily basis.
What challenges you to be better at your craft?
My parents instilled a work ethic in my siblings and me, so I approach things as an opportunity, not a challenge.
We want our audience to listen to “Under the Mistletoe”, where can they listen and follow YOU!?
You can download, stream or view from BlueAeris.com! You can also find me on @peterreckell on Twitter when I’m not off-grid. Domestic violence has gone through the roof since COVID began. We reached out to Futures Without Violence because they’ve been providing groundbreaking programs, policies, and campaigns that empower individuals and organisations working to end violence against women and children. 5% of proceeds from the sale of the Blue Aeris JOY album will support futureswithoutviolence.org. Please take care of yourselves and each other! Happy Holidays!
