Chicago’s House Music Sweetheart Irene Michaels Performs “I Like Rain” at Times Square for “Pause The World For Peace” and Climate Week on International Peace Day

On a beautiful sunny day with a hint of autumn in the air and the trees dressed in their carnival clothes, singer/songwriter and House Music Princess  Irene Michaels captured the hearts of the  Times Square audience with her award winning song “I Like Rain” in a celebration of International Peace Day and Climate Week. She was part of the 5 hour concert “Pause The World For Peace” hosted by the Good News Corporation and Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine. The extravaganza was produced by Paul Sladkus and OMMM. 

The concert featured virtual messages from Ringo Starr and his plea for a moment of silence, Michael, Douglas, Leonardo DiCaprio, Stevie Wonder, Tony Orlando, Shakira, and others. Joining Irene live was talent including AY Young, The King Moore Unity Project, Keith Shocklee (Public Enemy), Opera cross over International star Giorgia Fumanti, Composer Randy Edelman (A Weekend in New England), The American Relics, singer Quinn Lemley and a marathon of others. 

Irene’s performance was spectacular. She caught the attention of on lookers as well as the audience attending. The concert was also streamed live worldwide and can be seen on YouTube. The message of Peace and Love spread like a wildfire including a directive expressed by Irene. 

As a prelude to the festivities Irene also appeared on “Live at Hotel Edison With the Times Square Chronicles and Suzanna Bowling and The Rita Cosby Show live on 77 WABC Radio. The 79 year old beauty spoke about her career, her up and coming appearance on the stage of the CMA Theater at The Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum for the Josie Music Awards (which she was also nominated for in two categories), and of course International Peace Day established by the United Nations 40 years ago.
