Exclusive InterviEw with ALYST

How would you classify your overall music genre/style?

I would consider my music style Rnb/ Pop with a hip hop blend. I try to throw in all those dynamics in most of my songs. I truly take pride In having a completely different sound than most artists. It’s me, that’s the only way to stand out and be remembered.

Who are some of your top musical influences?

Chris brown, drake, Dababy, Lil Wayne, Nelly, tory lanez, Travis Scott, Justin Bieber, Pharrell Williams. All those guys are great. I like to listen to a variety of things, to challenge my creativity.

What would you like your fans and potential new listeners to take away from your music?

If you want something bad enough and if you can see yourself getting it, it can be done. Dream for the highest goal that you could possibly think of and don’t stop until you find it. It’s been a long challenging road for me. So if someone Like me can achieve and get this far, Anyone out there can too. Just takes a dollar and a dream.

Tell us something really interesting about yourself that is not music related…

I am one of the best tennis players to ever come out of South Carolina. Formerly number 1 in the state and used to be top 20 in the US as a junior. I even trained With Venus and Serena’s dad.

What is the best concert you have ever been to that has truly inspired your live performances?

When I went to college,  I got the chance to see Mac Miller perform on my school. Definitely inspired me to perform in front of crowds one day.

What do you enjoy most about performing to a live audience?

I like how it’s pressure. I love that all eyes are on me.  I love the entertainment aspect of it. When I’m up there, I’m all about high energy, so that’s exactly what I give when I’m on stage.

Is there a song on your latest DIGITAL release that stands out as your personal favorite, and why?

Yes, it’s definitely Gleeming. Gleeming stands out because it sounds just like me. I know it sounds cliche, but that was the start of me finding my authentic self when it came to my music.

How have you evolved as an artist over the last year during these challenging times?

I’d say I evolved as a person first, then it translated into my music. I was able to talk about my journey in these tough times through my music. I learned that once I became better as a person. My music was able to follow that same path.

If you could meet, play a gig, co-write a song, have dinner, have a drink with any band or artist (dead or alive) who would it be?

It would be Pharrell Williams. The creativity that he puts into his music is super authentic. His mind musically is unbelievable. I want to be able to staple my own sound in the game, just like he has.

What are your ultimate goals for your songs and your career as an artist?

My goal is to win a Grammy. In specifics album of the year.  Nothing less than that. Thank you for your support!
