Interview with Mark and the Tiger

Mark and the Tiger, we are so excited to chat with you today! Briefly walk us through your story how did you get started and what do you have going on now?

Thank you so much for having me! My story is mostly like everyone else’s. I’m just an artist living in LA trying to make it in the music industry. I guess the only thing that is a little unusual is that for a long time I never thought that music would be my career. I hear about all these famous artists who hunted down producers at 16 until they got a record deal, but when I was 16 I was just trying to get my shit together and get through High School. Music was just something I did. Something I loved. I had to go through every other possible career option before it ever occurred to me that the thing I loved most could actually be my job! Now it’s the only thing I’m really focused on! I’ve got a lot of new music coming out in the new year and I’ll be gigging up a storm!

Do you have a moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?

I had a moment at a recent  gig (I was at the Mint in LA) when I was on stage performing and I just felt amazing. I don’t even mean that it was my best gig ever. It was a light crowd and for whatever reason I was really nervous for the night. My nerves stayed with me all day long but as soon as I go on stage and the lights were on me and the band started playing, I had this moment where I just felt so safe. Like I was wrapped up in a big security blanket under those lights and nothing else mattered. It didn’t matter how I sounded. It didn’t matter what I looked like. All that mattered was that I was singing my music. It was just an incredible sense of peace.

Tell us what you do best? What sets you apart from other artists?

I think I’m a pretty great lyricist. I love words and telling stories and I think I do it well.

If you could blink your eyes and be in a favorite place right now, where would that be?

That’s pretty hard. Maine is probably my favorite place in the world. It’s where I grew up. But I love to travel in general. I want to go all over the world!

What are your plans for new music? Any details you can share?

I’ve got three new singles coming out in the new year! They’re all leading up for the release of my first big EP at the end of May! I’m so excited to share this music!
