Exclusive Interview with Emily Daccarett
So great to have you for our interview today. Tell us about your latest single and what you’ve been working on lately!
Thank you so much for having me! The latest single I released was Love Chain. I wanted a song that encompassed the romantic side of the Holidays. Love Actually is one of my favorite modern Christmas movies, and I was inspired by Colin Firth and Lucia Moniz’s storyline. As the Holidays are ending, they realize they have fallen in love and stay together, professing their love for one another in such a romantic way. Currently, I’m working on my new album scheduled to release January 2021!
I’m so excited to share what we have been working on for the past five months. It’s a concept I had dreamt of doing, but never would have imagined we would have done it for my first full album.
What creative risks have you taken that have paid off?
Well taking a small break from designing to work on my craft as a songwriter. I started out as a fashion designer and I love designing, but I felt like I was slowly burning myself to the ground and missed singing so much. I was afraid fans of my brand would feel this was a vanity project, but I couldn’t keep denying myself the love I have for music and performing.
What are you most proud of in your career?
I would have to say my first fashion show for LAFW. It was this show that I started working with my producer, S. Peace Nistades, on original music for a fashion film I produced with Tiger House Films. This is how I introduced music into my career after putting it to the side so I could study fashion design. After six collections, I took some time to go to music school and work on my craft as a songwriter.
How do you keep positive these days?
Honestly, by keeping busy, working out, and starting all the smaller projects I wanted to do but never had the time before.
Do you believe in overnight success?
When it comes to 15 minutes of fame after having a viral video yes, but success no. We often mistake singers like Billie Eilish as being an overnight sensation, but we never stop to think of all the work she and her brother did to get there. I do think luck has a lot to do with it, but you need dedication and consistency to maintain your success.
