SCARECROW Earns Josie Music Awards Nomination for “Twisted,” Featuring Dee Snider

SCARECROW has been officially nominated for Song of the Year – Metal/Alternative Metal at the 12th Annual Josie Music Awards for its powerful single “Twisted,” featuring Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider. The awards ceremony is set for September 20 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.

For SCARECROW founder, songwriter, and lead vocalist John Blaze, the nomination represents a full-circle moment rooted in decades of friendship, music, and rock ’n’ roll history. Blaze’s gritty, unmistakable vocal style has been central to SCARECROW since its earliest days, when the band’s original lineup featured Twisted Sister guitarist Eddie Ojeda.

“Twisted” brings that history into the present, pairing Blaze’s signature sound with guest vocals from Snider to create a modern, radio-ready rock anthem. The track also features acclaimed violinist Mark Wood of Trans-Siberian Orchestra, lead guitarist TJ Jordan, and drummer Bobby Marks of Humble Pie.

The Josie Music Awards nomination adds another milestone to a career spanning more than two decades. SCARECROW first emerged with its Redlight Records debut before releasing the 2000s follow-up A Touch of Madness through Pavement Music. Blaze later reinvented the project as the theatrical stage production “I AM SCARECROW,” followed by the career-spanning compilation Blood, Sweat and 20 Years on The Spectra Music Group.

With “Twisted,” Blaze brings those years of experience, relationships, and musical evolution together in what has become one of the most significant singles of SCARECROW’s career.

The Song of the Year – Metal/Alternative Metal nomination recognizes the song’s songwriting and performance, placing the focus on the craft behind the music. For Blaze, “Twisted” is particularly meaningful because it grew from authentic relationships and a shared history forged over decades within the rock community.
