With the soaring popularity of podcasts and the fact that we’ve all been trapped indoors for the past year and craving human sounds and interaction, there’s no better feeling than a level of closeness in finding the right sound. From New York, NY The Grindhouse Radio (GHR for short), this fantastic group consisting of *deep breath* Pro Wrestler, Musician, Author, Food Critic and MORE, Brimstone, Actress model, writer and voice-over artist Kim Adragna, and Producer, talent and editor Tom Greer. The group has been at their shenanigans since 2015 and has amassed quite the following thanks to their combined passions, sincerity in the attention they give their special guests (more on that later), and just how funny the group is so effortlessly at this point. Some podcasts that have been running for years are still only now figuring out what makes for some of the best content, but this group has never really had those major growing pains.

Tangential yet focused, juvenile but always knowing when to get serious, and not afraid to get into subjects that others might veer away from, there’s contradiction aplenty, but they’re the best kind because they’re human. I wasn’t sure what to expect on my first listen. Everybody has a podcast these days and a lot of them are quite frankly, a misguided mess or an excuse for someone to just spout their thoughts and opinions. You can tell the trio have one major goal in mind. Entertain. It helps that everyone brings something to the table, and with the insane amount of accomplishments and interests spread between the three of them, even after all these years there is no shortage of what they can talk about. It also helps that they get a real who’s-who of special guests from actors, musicians, comic book creators, and tons more than seeing it pop up in your subscription feed is always a welcome surprise. You’re able to currently find the show on nearly all streaming platforms and I would recommend giving them a shot. For some, I can completely see them being a little too chaotic. Sometimes they do have a habit of talking over one another and it’s people so not every joke is gonna land and if you’re not someone who’s pop culture or nerd niche inclined, you might not find much for you, but it’s always a great opportunity to be exposed to something new. As someone with a massive love for animation, hearing the various voice actors they’ve had on feels like a pleasant surprise. Knowing that someone has an equal passion for something you do as well is always a pleasant surprise.

The net really 4 million listeners weekly worldwide and there’s a certain level of everyman quality that makes them so accessible. If you’re not a podcast fan, I recommend it even still because it’s kind of like a buffet. There are tons of options and guests and if nothing else, you’ll always be surprised by what you tasting. Highly recommended.
